Road between SB & the Airport is Closed..

Sorry to give the bad news I thought this was a rumour but it appears to be true!! From mybg..


You may or may not be aware but the main road between Sunny Beach and Bourgas Airport has been closed for some time. This is because the road is being upgraded to a dual carriageway between the traffic lights for Ravda and the Nessebar lights.

The original completion date was set for some time during the winter but now it has announced that it won’t reopen until the end of June! We can’t get this officially confirmed but as you can see from the photos taken yesterday it’s only about two thirds complete so this seems to concur.

The latest reports if they start work again will be that it should be open by August, but dont hold your breath. You have 3 ways in from Burgas one through Ravda and Nessebar although Nessebar can only just cope with the traffic in the winter. Kableshkovo and then down past Tankovo or Aheloy/ Tankovo but again you have join the same road by Sunny Beach, Friday it took me 35 mins to get through the lights as joining the lights from Kableshkovo you only have 18 sec on green. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens..

Just got back from Sunny beach and the main road to the resort is really bad, we hired a car and lucky for us we were able to follow the rental guy back to sunny beach as we would not of found the complex easy in the dark as there are no diversion signs anything.

Divertion signs have now gone up but as you say its not that easy to find in the dark, the best way is to come out of the airport and turn first right at the roundabout, road going towards Burgas then take the second turning off the road to the right, first one goes nowhere probably onto the run way, keep to the right and just stay on this road, you will come to a set of lights go straight through these this is Khableskovo just keep on the same road about 5miles on from Khableskovo you will see a sign for Sunny Beach you turn right here follow this road it will take you past Tankovo and you will come to the light on the main Burgas to Varna road, turn left at these lights onto the Burgas Varna road you will then see Nessebar Fort on the left and the Aqua Park on the right.

Yes we are all glad to say the road is open.
It has been a bit of a nightmare for our drivers over the past couple of months picking our clients up and taking them back to the airport. There is still some work going on but at least it's a straight run.
